Questions guests ask
Will 5 adults be comfortable?
Four will be. The real beds are the queen in one loft and the two twins in the other. The sofa bed in the living area is small, so it suits a child or one smaller adult. The lofts are open sleeping areas with low ceilings, not closed-off bedrooms.
We're arriving late at night. Is that OK?
Yes. Check-in is self-serve with a key lockbox, so you can arrive any time after 4:00 PM, however late. Your check-in email has directions from the highway, and there's a light in front of the house so you can spot it in the dark.
Can we check in early?
If you book here on our website, yes. Booking direct lets you check in an hour before the usual 4:00 PM if you need to. Just let us know before you arrive.
Is there coffee? What's in the kitchen?
Yes. The coffee maker is a Keurig with a refillable filter, so it takes K-cups or ground coffee, and ground coffee is provided. There's also a Japanese tea set. The kitchen has an induction cooktop, a microwave, a fridge and cooking basics. On the cooktop, set the round metal disc down first and your pan on top of it; the house book explains it. There are no stores near the glampground, so pick up groceries in Flagstaff on the way in.
Do we need to bring firewood?
No. The fire pit runs on propane, so there's no wood to bring. There are s'mores kits on the property too.
Does it have air conditioning?
Yes, there's air conditioning, and heating for cold nights. At about 5,700 feet, nights cool off even in summer.
Is there Wi-Fi? What about cell signal?
Yes, there's Starlink Wi-Fi and a smart TV. A storm can interrupt the Wi-Fi now and then. Cell signal is patchy, often 1 to 2 bars depending on your carrier, so turn on Wi-Fi calling on your phone. Your check-in email has the Wi-Fi details.
Is the tap water safe to drink?
Yes. It's trucked in from Flagstaff, and bottled water is for sale in the clubhouse too. At this altitude, drink more than you usually would, especially on your first day.
What if we run out of towels or toilet paper?
Towels, linens and bathroom basics are ready when you arrive, and there are extra blankets in the house. Extra toilet paper, trash bags and other basics are in the clubhouse, in the cabinet next to the fridge marked for the tiny homes. If you need more towels, message us and we'll bring them over.
What's in the clubhouse, and how do we pay?
The clubhouse is open 24/7. Its small market runs on the honor system: snacks, drinks, ice cream, frozen pizza, bottled water and a few essentials, plus fresh eggs from the resident chickens. Pay with cash, Venmo or Zelle. The guest laundry is there too. It's handy for a late snack, but do your real grocery shop in Flagstaff.
Who else stays at the glampground? Is it private?
Zen Haus is one of several tiny homes at Grand Canyon Oasis, a family-run tiny home and RV park, and guests share the clubhouse, outdoor kitchen and laundry. Zen Haus is at the edge of the property, next to Coconino National Forest, which makes it the most private spot there. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 8 AM.
Can I bring a trailer or an off-road vehicle?
Yes. A trailer up to about 16 feet fits in a back-in spot next to the house, or you can unhook it elsewhere on the property. Off-road vehicles are welcome too: the glampground borders Coconino National Forest, with miles of Forest Service roads.
